Cloud storage is loosely coupled as well as the nodes need not talk to the other person to facilitate supercomputers writing in parallel towards the same file spread across multiple nodes. Being loosely-coupled allows fine performance for multiple copies of merely one file across multiple nodes or multiple files while offering huge scalability.
